Make sure you wear gloves or oven mitts and make sure children are being supervised.<br />3. take out of microwave and stir in kool-aid drink crystals until desired colour is reached - I used the whole package for each batch. Stir until the crystals are completely dissolved. (Make sure you stir for a while, I didn't stir enough, so my batch wasn't that great)<br />4. if starting to solidify you can heat again for another 30 seconds - skip this step if it is still liquidy<br />5. pour into your lip gloss containers and leave to solidify - a couple hours<br />6. repeat this whole process if making more flavors<br />7. print out labels on sticker paper<br />8. using either a 1 inch punch, or scissors, cut out the circle labels and attach to your lip gloss container</span><br /></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqoOhztYXR1Td9eidwXW8hoQLiuETaBZmrb0hneNDRGp7DrbCZGagVnnlYXeg2DGnlDN9JE28S0axgrKgXF8fP3aikoID3uBwydSa3gNlUhvirIiFJvafd8ED-4hdN2qSZG8FRBo4KbsI/s1600/signatureKATIE+copy.jpg"><img style="float: right; margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 52px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqoOhztYXR1Td9eidwXW8hoQLiuETaBZmrb0hneNDRGp7DrbCZGagVnnlYXeg2DGnlDN9JE28S0axgrKgXF8fP3aikoID3uBwydSa3gNlUhvirIiFJvafd8ED-4hdN2qSZG8FRBo4KbsI/s200/signatureKATIE+copy.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514718081647662178" border="0" /></a>Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03004367382703098713noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796367360756840730.post-58760743498168345562011-01-29T06:51:00.000-08:002011-02-01T12:11:11.644-08:00DIY Body Sugar ScrubAgain, more Valentine's gifts! I am also planning on knitting it a little sleeping bag using my <a href="http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=knifty+knitter&um=1&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=653&ie=UTF-8&cid=1120796567666949206&ei=_CVETeyzOcGp8AbvofG8AQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CFYQ8wIwAA#">Knifty Knitter</a>, but haven't gotten that far yet! I am thinking of doing these as easter gifts for S's little friends. I have a couple ideas for different "looks" too! Like little ties or bow ties for boy bunnies, and a pearl necklace for the girl ones. I was also thinking about adding pockets to the front and they could be tooth fairy pillows. Any other fun ideas or little touches I can add to the bunnies?<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-QDNtL_N0dmmPK0bbD95olaX5AyHk_LyuHU-_n5Ht2WD2bYuf6rW3dQ5QCNvFemXQF_qzKWRHJ9vbu1tifnKKq3lI23eyQl0tBanJtjF5cRDUkiH-xs_EihLNCuiY4BzYh-nF5Z8tvvY/s1600/pink+bunny.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 133px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-QDNtL_N0dmmPK0bbD95olaX5AyHk_LyuHU-_n5Ht2WD2bYuf6rW3dQ5QCNvFemXQF_qzKWRHJ9vbu1tifnKKq3lI23eyQl0tBanJtjF5cRDUkiH-xs_EihLNCuiY4BzYh-nF5Z8tvvY/s200/pink+bunny.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5567647930477670146" border="0" /></a>I used my own pattern and used the blanket stitch for the outside of the bunny, a french note for the eyes, and the satin stitch for the nose. So I have already made my first gift and it was a Valentine's Gift. Cut the fabric 1/2" to 3/4" larger then the pillow insert.<br />2. Once you have the two pieces, sew the buttons on the front of one side for eyes.<br />3. Then hand sew a smile/frown/smirk, whatever, with the embroidery floss. If you want to add any other decorations now is the time. A bow, earrings, necklace, or just keep it simple.<br />4. Here they are... INTRODUCING the Mr. & Mrs. Bee's for the wedding cake! I hit a bump or two in the road, but they turned out ok.<br /><br />Supplies<br />Wooden balls<br />drill<br />yellow and black paint<br />14 gauge wire<br />tissue paper<br /><br />1. Drill holes (one on each side) into the wooden balls, these are for the wings to go into.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo1LmxX9yDKf9_9QvSAoZMrsquplav-Bwx1qXcp8KnjImSSlc3WEvIhBykwB2TVLDYgGaoj1RiuUUHBBOVLM6wAcJxUSaf3CJeS85V8-J-zpGDPA_oTxnZ_xM5dyObw4BcVjf6kNlGY8E/s1600/1+-+bee+topper.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo1LmxX9yDKf9_9QvSAoZMrsquplav-Bwx1qXcp8KnjImSSlc3WEvIhBykwB2TVLDYgGaoj1RiuUUHBBOVLM6wAcJxUSaf3CJeS85V8-J-zpGDPA_oTxnZ_xM5dyObw4BcVjf6kNlGY8E/s400/1+-+bee+topper.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516824076423571890" border="0" /></a><br />2. So what sweeter thing to do then whip up a batch of Lemon Cupcakes! We cheated a little by using Pillsbury Lemon Cake Mix, but we did make the frosting from scratch (which is the only way I will make it now, I can never go back to can frosting). Check <a href="http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/lemon-cake-with-lemon-filling-and-lemon-butter-frosting/Detail.aspx">here</a> for the amazing recipe. If I had the time, I would have also made the filling. <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_RnSx9ObyEzNm7BgOYL7KpMVUZ8HISubGN8xXmKoOi48CKI8M-QshhRk2bULlJlhM6M1Dg8cloHtx8FEab21becsOd-1N1uvPwCuRt4jNDtbSHoVPJo732TYjh9TPeZKvDDlchxNCzxE/s1600/154_5150070033.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 128px; height: 128px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_RnSx9ObyEzNm7BgOYL7KpMVUZ8HISubGN8xXmKoOi48CKI8M-QshhRk2bULlJlhM6M1Dg8cloHtx8FEab21becsOd-1N1uvPwCuRt4jNDtbSHoVPJo732TYjh9TPeZKvDDlchxNCzxE/s320/154_5150070033.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5515350138539991346" /></a><br />We topped with delicious raspberries and voila Yummy Treats!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpNrmaKRM7Wb1Gq5D9Jk34huAmyalS9nykPd_DhpqY5KORUMvkHOPm3GXn6_akSq6Hxnc6FKHQ5BLGKtleLz6OZx-jiq4BVg-LYLljzzTFwioX2gJjMmMQRr4ugfPSLKBxPPboBDDkn_Y/s1600/1+-+Lemon+Love.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpNrmaKRM7Wb1Gq5D9Jk34huAmyalS9nykPd_DhpqY5KORUMvkHOPm3GXn6_akSq6Hxnc6FKHQ5BLGKtleLz6OZx-jiq4BVg-LYLljzzTFwioX2gJjMmMQRr4ugfPSLKBxPPboBDDkn_Y/s400/1+-+Lemon+Love.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5515355521934468146" /></a><br />I think this is my last attempt at holding onto Summer. The wedding is next weekend and I still have a few things to do:<br />1. make bee cake topper (tutorial to come)<br />2. <strike>make fondant hive and bees</strike> (pictures posted below)<br />3. make wedding cake (pictures to come)<br />4. make table numbers (pictures to come)<br />5. make table name cards (pictures to come)<br />6. make 15 rock holders for the table numbers (pictures to come, tutorial already posted)<br /><br />First I broke up my (store bought) fondant into three balls. Then I dyed each ball a different yellow. I was looking for a gradient effect, so the hive will be the darkest and then the bees will get lighter.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSXSWDezn1lFUyqjfW6EYliZHK5sSkN6XeDTNpzVcp_wM4XkC6hI3v5mEHfGOB_wNrnZ8bqpI9AYT21V8oI4jfsAdw4srGG-Pz30ARgcOM7WOBqDVaDmS8m7OmWNlvxE3FKmz0CL4r-c/s1600/1+-+fondant+bees.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWSXSWDezn1lFUyqjfW6EYliZHK5sSkN6XeDTNpzVcp_wM4XkC6hI3v5mEHfGOB_wNrnZ8bqpI9AYT21V8oI4jfsAdw4srGG-Pz30ARgcOM7WOBqDVaDmS8m7OmWNlvxE3FKmz0CL4r-c/s400/1+-+fondant+bees.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514717439314411858" /></a><br />Then I rolled out each fondant and used the cookie cutters.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJaWOJflZoOHacwPP36pVNoXvnmTSZmLGnVzHIO06ge2cXtntNbzQKaFn9P6LYLpVgZQcwLO5DY9siG2OoIWAoWJDhNkiaDSlN2p9AiHWJ2zyn0QVyWgw9cL2OKgrSjLFpgvt1iw2_MSI/s1600/2+-+fondant+bees.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJaWOJflZoOHacwPP36pVNoXvnmTSZmLGnVzHIO06ge2cXtntNbzQKaFn9P6LYLpVgZQcwLO5DY9siG2OoIWAoWJDhNkiaDSlN2p9AiHWJ2zyn0QVyWgw9cL2OKgrSjLFpgvt1iw2_MSI/s400/2+-+fondant+bees.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514717432860183106" /></a><br />Then I placed them on a sheet, but will be packaging them up in a sealed tight container till next week! <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHhITUgp2EE463uAQm60sSsNh0zcN_Lt1s7AvqB0jxZ0R8esiXsiKUJjLpHGESDSoTgaBsrNPsv3i1o2zkI-Whg4XFXqiC6MjMO3M1Uy9-orIVzIdklC-KC7aMwY26hkE04_W26EB21xU/s1600/3+-+fondant+bees.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHhITUgp2EE463uAQm60sSsNh0zcN_Lt1s7AvqB0jxZ0R8esiXsiKUJjLpHGESDSoTgaBsrNPsv3i1o2zkI-Whg4XFXqiC6MjMO3M1Uy9-orIVzIdklC-KC7aMwY26hkE04_W26EB21xU/s400/3+-+fondant+bees.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514717418060167298" /></a><br /><br />It was very simple, and I am laughing at myself for how nervous I was. She flaps her cute chubby arms and kicks her yummy legs when we walk by photos displayed around the house. When you let her look at them up close, while saying the name of the individuals in them, she smiles chin to chin and squeals with excitement.<br /><br />Originally I thought of display photographs in her room in picture frames, but that was a bit too boring. Something fun and girly was more appealing to me. I immediately thought of the art display's that I have seen on blogs and store websites. I decided to make one!<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdh668wlT27CEldo52D3yy23RsENCyHB9aqLXXrdxXiaM0jsQArP9P4Y59SBi_Y__PmRo0bt0A3ieAVFczIMuf9kFC-NrxR-M9A6TMT52bbYrVGsBdVrfwmNo78SbZfuqNa0vPugy2qp0G/s1600/finish.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 151px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdh668wlT27CEldo52D3yy23RsENCyHB9aqLXXrdxXiaM0jsQArP9P4Y59SBi_Y__PmRo0bt0A3ieAVFczIMuf9kFC-NrxR-M9A6TMT52bbYrVGsBdVrfwmNo78SbZfuqNa0vPugy2qp0G/s400/finish.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514327406933744994" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipV4UEbolSORx1yfinX4EMW1U4BghNQhsO5SbKW2P_6t_Il-N-wyYreVYoqvvkroWQDNLguXyapVjkLsFoxodZNxdeP2hWBvzNzFresk12qIeJ1xG1O0xr9EDIL5L1PMWsuIbyOJaD2dgy/s1600/whole.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 234px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipV4UEbolSORx1yfinX4EMW1U4BghNQhsO5SbKW2P_6t_Il-N-wyYreVYoqvvkroWQDNLguXyapVjkLsFoxodZNxdeP2hWBvzNzFresk12qIeJ1xG1O0xr9EDIL5L1PMWsuIbyOJaD2dgy/s400/whole.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514327448350234802" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Materials:<br />1. Here are some of my goals for the next few weeks.<br /><br />1. Finish the adorable headbands that Ida and I are working on.<br />2. Make little bees to go on top of a wedding cake.<br />3. Make about 15 rocks with wire for table number holders for cousin's wedding.<br />4. Make a wedding cake.<br />5. Decide on and make a halloween costume for my LG. I am thinking ladybug or butterfly. I was a ladybug when I was 2/3 years old, so I was thinking that would be cute, but I can't decide, and I am always open for suggestions!<br />6. I am going to add more when I think of it!Katiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03004367382703098713noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796367360756840730.post-66970368291997212192010-09-01T17:37:00.000-07:002010-09-07T16:01:00.891-07:00Ida's Project Goals - SeptemberThis post was inspired by MaryAnne at <a href="http://mamasmiles.com/?p=1634">mama smiles</a>. Her goals are meaningful and admirable!<br />Mine? Well, here, they are project goals, but I am motivated to make goals similar to MaryAnne's for my family!<br /><br />1. Photo/art display - This is for BG. I have been working on this project for over a month! Actually, I completed one that I did not like at all so, started over. I've really only bought the materials and haven't started yet.<br /><br />2. Travel games - We have a wedding this month that will require us traveling a long distance by car. LM will need some entertainment and although we have a DVD player, I'd prefer if he didn't watch for 9 hours!<br /><br />3. Wedding card box - Yes, another one. My SIL is marrying in early October and I am making the card box. I'd like to get that done by the end of September.<br /><br />4. Hair band - BG is the flower girl in my SIL's wedding and again, I need to get that finished.<br /><br />5. Refinish BG's dresser - The dresser I have been using in her room was purchased on Craigslist for $50. I don't like the color, it is more cheaply made than I originally thought, it doesn't have drawer slides and half the knobs are missing. Why am I bothering then? It has character. It has tons of potential! I am definitely painting it, adding new knobs and I want to try to add some type of drawer slides.<br /><br />6. Start priming and painting our basement/laundry room - I have started to organize the basement last month because the floor paint is peeling and I am finding it throughout the house. It is driving me crazy. Well, of course, I'm not painting the floor before I organize and then paint the walls. I have the organizing under control so, my goal for the month is to get the walls primed and start some painting. Oh, and putting up peg board on one wall.<br /><br />Whew! Can I do it? I sure hope so. If I can get LM and BG to nap at the same time at least 4 out of 7 days a week I may have a chance!Idahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00755792132873530111noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5796367360756840730.post-68703221330203911092010-08-26T18:08:00.000-07:002010-08-27T11:28:49.741-07:00Appreciating Daddy<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyY-esiFQMuooQNI3nC6fcvLKEI7qmhHAPz8WjWRs2e-XQut0Cut9sTN2jDsbpIzovU5gA8BPtaqjQM1AAAPC_Z9XDUM43FD3QnOIKWkIZf-OtcQWi6P7MWZF2SE_p9kjEihCVQRmUa4xb/s1600/fd.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyY-esiFQMuooQNI3nC6fcvLKEI7qmhHAPz8WjWRs2e-XQut0Cut9sTN2jDsbpIzovU5gA8BPtaqjQM1AAAPC_Z9XDUM43FD3QnOIKWkIZf-OtcQWi6P7MWZF2SE_p9kjEihCVQRmUa4xb/s400/fd.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510032643574167346" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWp3GTaCTlugfVJQYR_lgynzJ-SYMT5YabUYFXpRpUeOVtkkBCwWOsUQgd37tFKvvEaX2VCIM_cX6eHIz6mJKtuDPGCElM9Y2ijcDOnh0LKWfj3yeCT_F5-ai30C1TIUW1t_TeLiE-yrYE/s1600/fd1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWp3GTaCTlugfVJQYR_lgynzJ-SYMT5YabUYFXpRpUeOVtkkBCwWOsUQgd37tFKvvEaX2VCIM_cX6eHIz6mJKtuDPGCElM9Y2ijcDOnh0LKWfj3yeCT_F5-ai30C1TIUW1t_TeLiE-yrYE/s400/fd1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510032646180940114" border="0" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">My husband has been completely stressed at his job the last couple of weeks. Here is just the cakes with the crumb coating. I am not going to get to decorate them the way she wants right now, b/c I am waiting on some cookie cutters (to cut the fondant). <br /><br />Not too bad for someone who has never done this before! Since the colors are gray and yellow, I found a gray/purple gift bag and some yellow tissue paper. I also purchased a sheet of yellow textured scrapbooking paper.
