DIY Lip Balm

We are making more Valentine's day gifts and are making our own Lip Balm. I got the recipe from Meet the Dubiens.

Supplies:
lip balm containers (I had a hard time finding this, so we used painters things instead)
vasoline
koolaid packets(cherry and grape)

Instructions: (taken directly from Meet the Dubiens)
1. put about 1 cup vaseline in a microwave safe bowl
2. heat the vaseline in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between each heating. It took me about 7-8 minutes to melt each batch of vaseline. It will be liquid when it is fully melted. It will be very hot! Make sure you wear gloves or oven mitts and make sure children are being supervised.
3. take out of microwave and stir in kool-aid drink crystals until desired colour is reached - I used the whole package for each batch. Stir until the crystals are completely dissolved. (Make sure you stir for a while, I didn't stir enough, so my batch wasn't that great)
4. if starting to solidify you can heat again for another 30 seconds - skip this step if it is still liquidy
5. pour into your lip gloss containers and leave to solidify - a couple hours
6. repeat this whole process if making more flavors
7. print out labels on sticker paper
8. using either a 1 inch punch, or scissors, cut out the circle labels and attach to your lip gloss container

DIY Body Sugar Scrub

Again, more Valentine's gifts! This is a Lemon Body Sugar Scrub. I found the recipe at Under the Table and Dreaming, here it is:

Lemon Sugar Scrub
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
4 TBS lemon juice {I added some lemon zest (grated) for the fun look and added texture}

*I also designed my own labels in photoshop and printed them on label stickers to add a personal touch!

*I also had a hard time finding the containers I wanted for these, so I found these cute glass bottles at Michaels and will include a wooden spoon with them!

Love Magnets!

Making some Valentine's gifts for family! We are making adorable thumb print heart magnets! I got the idea from Meet the Dubiens. We are using Crayola Model Magic (because it is so light) and I bought a fun metallic red paint!

Felt Bunny

I am on a felt kick, and made this cute felt bunny for my daugther. I am also planning on knitting it a little sleeping bag using my Knifty Knitter, but haven't gotten that far yet! I am thinking of doing these as easter gifts for S's little friends. I have a couple ideas for different "looks" too! Like little ties or bow ties for boy bunnies, and a pearl necklace for the girl ones. I was also thinking about adding pockets to the front and they could be tooth fairy pillows. Any other fun ideas or little touches I can add to the bunnies?

I used my own pattern and used the blanket stitch for the outside of the bunny, a french note for the eyes, and the satin stitch for the nose. Check out Martha for instructions!

Felt Chinese Take Out Box with Fortune Cookies!

I am involved in a pay-it-forward craft chain. Where I have 5 friends that I am to make a handcrafted project for by the end of 2011. Then they get 5 friends to craft for, and so on! So I have already made my first gift and it was a Valentine's Gift. I made a chinese take out box out of felt, and then made little felt fortune cookies in red and pink (adding little fortunes)
